I like money. I’m guessing you do too. You have probably landed on this post because you are looking for easy ways to make extra money. That is what I will deliver!

Money isn’t everything but it is a critical aspect of our lives. Making more money can be a game changer.

When we don’t have enough, it creates a lot of stress and anxiety.  Who needs that!

I know this feeling. After being off work on maternity leave for the second time for a full year, we ended up in debt. What! How could I let this happen? We are too smart for this.

The reality was I had no idea how to plan for this new reality and the result was we went into some debt.

It wasn’t an earth-shattering amount but enough to scare the crap out of me and start researching how I could prevent this from happening again. I started searching for things like simple & flexible ways to make extra money because well we have two kids now.

ways to make extra money for normal people

We needed to set goals. Not just budgeting goals but income goals as well.

Basically, I needed to bring in more money.  But I needed flexible ways to make money so I could be flexible for our kids.

At this time, I also decided not to go back to my full-time human resources job. Instead, I went into HR Consulting – working for myself. It was a huge risk but I really wanted more flexibility to spend more time at home with my kids. However, it did prove to be a good choice but at this time, I had no idea how it was going to turn out.

Not long after going into consulting, I also came across the idea of starting a blog when googling things like “ideas to make money” or “how to to make money from home.” However, like many people I am not overly techie. For instance, creating this Blog has been a huge challenge for me. I don’t know anything about coding, web design, etc. I mean, I’m an HR Professional. Not a lot of technical requirements beyond knowing my way around Excel.

Because I know there are a lot of people like me out there, I focused on side hustles that don’t require a ton of technical knowledge, three degrees, and 45 years of experience. If there is technical knowledge or training needed it is within reach of learning relatively easily.

Anyways…

What can a little extra money do for you?

Could it mean you will:

Whatever your “why”, making more money is a good feeling and can provide many opportunities in life. Don’t let this pass you by!

Here are a bunch of Flexible & Easy Ways to Make Extra Money.

1. Sell stuff lying around on Facebook, eBay, Kijiji, Craigslist, etc.

Obviously, this is one easy way to make extra money.

Even if you only get $5 for something, it adds up fast. Keep a container of the money you bring in from your sales and save it. In the last year, I have sold a ton of stuff lying around the house and I have made over $1000!

At this point, you might be in a situation where you really need to make extra money. You can do it!

2. Have a garage sale.

If you get together with some neighbors and advertise as a multi-family garage sale, you will have higher traffic. This is such a simple and flexible way to make extra money because it only takes a weekend of your time. Get your kids involved! Who can say no to kids? Haha. Just kidding. Well, not really.

3. Sign up for Ebates (unless you don’t like free money).

Ebates is basically a big referral program. It drives consumers to order online from participating companies. In exchange, the company gives Ebates a portion of the sale and then Ebates gives you a bit of their commission.

Ebates is totally legit! I use it all the time and it is so simple. All you have to do is create an account and when you are shopping online, activate before you purchase. You can choose your money from Ebates to go into your Paypal account or they will send you a check.

The variety of stores somewhat depends on the country you live in. I mostly use it for Amazon, Zulily, and Old Navy.

Caution: make sure you don’t buy anything unnecessary.

4. Freelance.

According to a study conducted by Upwork; “Freelancers predicted to become the U.S. workforce majority within a decade, with nearly 50% of millennial workers already freelancing.”

Ten’s of millions of Americans are choosing to freelance over traditional jobs to make their desired lifestyle a reality. Hiring freelancers is catching on big time due to the flexibility it provides not to mention the low costs compared to employing someone, tax benefits, and so on.

I have been a freelance HR consultant for the last couple of years and have made more working less hours than when I was employed.

Think about your talents and/or education. What are you trained/experienced in and good at?

20. Start a Blog!

Starting a blog is definitely an undertaking! Oh my goodness! Particularly for people (such as myself) who know are not technologically gifted. However if you have a message, enjoy writing, and build a business that is totally flexible, blogging could be your answer! What appealed to me the most about blogging as a business was that it is one of the most create ways to make money, IMO.

Also, there are lots of amazing resources out there to help you. I invested a lot of money in blogging courses and found the best one to be Dare to Conquer.

I have been using DTC for about 1 year now and I am amazed by the value. There are tons of courses on SEO, Pinterest, affiliate marketing, email marketing, google analytics, content creation, and more. There is also a community of bloggers who help each other over Slack. Also, the owner of DTC is on Slack a lot to help. You get your questions answered often in minutes!

So, if you have been on the fence about starting a blog, you can do it. I am not going to lie, it is a lot of work but it is very rewarding to see what you can build from anywhere in your spare time!

It is not a get rich quick thing either but you can build a blog to be a full time business with very little start up.

To get started you will need to select a hosting company. I use and recommend Siteground. It is amazing. A lot of bloggers recommend Bluehost but in my research by reading reviews, Siteground beats Bluehost every time.

21. Be Someone’s Friend.

You are probably saying “wait, what?” Yeah, you can get paid to be someone’s friend! I know it sounds weird but there are lots of reasons people what to pay someone to be their friend. • Pinecone Research
  • Swagbucks
